Taste Oil, Sangiovese Wine, Learn The Regional Cuisine Exploring The Enchanting Countryside

We will pick you up from your hotel in Bologna at around 2pm and drive South-East from Bologna, towards the Romagna area.

Our first stop will be at an olive oil mill for an olive oil tasting. There are few small areas of the region where olive trees grow and the extra virgin olive oil is produced from indigenous varieties of olives and of very high quality, due to its organoleptic characteristics and its low acidity. The area of Brisighella, for example, in the heart of the Romagna area, produces an extra virgin olive oil that was one of the first oils obtaining the DOP (protected denomination of origin) certification in Italy.

You will learn how to taste olive oil and how to recognize the real extra virgin olive oil!

Then proceed to a winery nearby for a visit and a wine tasting. You will discover and learn about the local indigenous wines, such as Trebbiano, Albana and Sangiovese. And, of course, taste them!

After the visit we will drive to a fascinating restaurant located in a very charming and little medieval village built around a beautiful fortified castle in the countryside. Here we will meet chef Mirco for a cooking class on regional specialties. Mirco is very nice, friendly, knowledgeable and he speaks good English, he is a great chef specialized in the Mediterranean cuisine. He will host us in his kitchen and together we will prepare several great recipes traditional of the region.

Dinner will follow at his beautiful restaurant, tasting and enjoying the wonderful foods we have prepared together during the afternoon.

Back to Bologna after dinner, after an interesting, informative, enjoyable Foodie’s day!
